Damage symptoms
• The larvae chew the leaf lamina either partially or completely and leaving only the midrib.
• They take shelter beneath the leaf-sheaths or dry trash during the day and feed voraciously during nights.
Management
• Burning of trash and cane stubble.
• Ploughing of heavily infested fields to expose the larvae and pupae for predation by birds, and predators.
• Collection and destruction of larvae and pupae.
• Spraying of Chlorpyrifos 20 % EC @ 2 ml/litre.
