• Deep summer ploughing should be done to expose resting stages of insect like white grub and termites
• Rotten FYM should be used to avoid termite infestation
• Use tolerant cultivar for borers
• Select healthy insect free setts to avoids scale insects
• Early planting should done to escape early shoot borer infestation
• Flood irrigation at the time of planting help to stops termite attack.
• Close interval irrigation reduce incidence of Early Shoot Borer
• Mulching with cane trash at the early stages also has been reported to reduce the incidence of ESB and help in conserving moisture
