Irrigation based on climatological approach
• Climatological approach for irrigation to sugarcane crop has also been advocated but at present it is not much popular amongst the farmers of state.
• This involves scheduling irrigation based on irrigation water/cumulative pan evaporation (IW/CPE) ratio.
• As pre recommendation of SRI, Pusa, crop irrigated with an IW:CPE ratio 1.00 showed the maximum values of water requirement (118.07 cm) water use efficiency (830.0 kg/ha-cm) water productivity (Rs 12.55/m3) and was found economical in sugarcane when compared with 0.75 and 0.50 IW:CPE ratios under Bihar condition.
