Planting Season

Sugarcane requires about 25-320C temperature for germination. In north Indian conditions this temperature requirement is fulfilled twice, i.e. in October-November and February-March. Delayed planting restricts tillering because crop is bound to enter in the grand growth phase within 120-150 days after planting in response to increased atmospheric humidity and temperature with the onset of South west monsoon by the end of June or early July. So, optimum time of sowing is an important factor in sugarcane crop.
